Prof. Dr. med. et Dr. disc. pol. Andreas G. Franke, M.A. hat seit 3. April 2018 eine Professur für Fallmanagement mit dem Schwerpunkt Beschäftigungsorientierung und Beratung in prekären Lebenslagen an der HdBA am Campus Mannheim inne. Seit 1. Januar 2025 ist Prof. Dr. med. et Dr. disc. pol. Andreas G. Franke als Leiter des Regionalverbundes Süd-West (Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Saarland, Rheinland-Pfalz) in den Ärztlichen Dienst zu 80% abgeordnet.

Er studierte Medizin an den Universitäten Göttingen, Bern und Duisburg-Essen sowie Sozialwissenschaften an der Universität Göttingen. Er promovierte an der Universität Essen im Fach Medizin sowie an der Universität Göttingen im Fach Sozialwissenschaften.

Professor Franke war mehrere Jahre als Assistenzarzt und wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an den Universitären Psychiatrischen Kliniken (UPK) Basel, der Klinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie sowie der Klinik und Poliklinik für Neurologie der Universitätsmedizin Mainz tätig. Vor seinem Stellenantritt an der HdBA hatte er eine Professur für Medizin in Sozialer Arbeit, Bildung und Erziehung an der Hochschule Neubrandenburg inne und war mehrere Jahre als Prodekan und Dekan tätig.

Professor Franke verfügt über eine ärztliche Approbation sowie Facharztanerkennung für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie. Er hat ein „Institut für medizinisch-psychiatrische Forschung und Begutachtungen“ als An-Institut der Hochschule Neubrandenburg gegründet und geleitet, war an der Hochschule Neubrandenburg (Mit-) Begründer und Mitglied der Ethikkommission und Mitbegründer des Forschungsnetzwerkes zwischen Hochschule, Klinikum und Gesundheitsamt in Neubrandenburg.

Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich der Psychiatrie, Sozialmedizin, Sozialen Arbeit und (Neuro-) Ethik, Versorgungsforschung sowie Arbeitslosigkeit und psychische Krankheit. Herr Professor Franke hat zahlreiche Publikationen zu diversen psycho-sozialen und weiteren Themen veröffentlicht und ist als Gutachter und (Associate) Editor für mehrere internationale Journals tätig.
