Staff Mobility

Further education abroad expands the practical skills of teaching staff in terms of international experience. Staff members employed in administration are given the opportunity to acquire knowledge from international partners in the conceptional field.

Erasmus+ mutually supports guest lecturers of European partner universities which hold a valid Erasmus Charta for Higher Education (ECHE). Guest lecturers should strengthen the European dimension of the host university, complement their study courses and pass on expert knowledge to students who do not want to or are unable to study abroad.

Where possible, developing mutual study courses as well as the exhange of teaching content  and methods should play a role.
Staff from foreign companies and organisations can be invited to German universities for teaching purposes.

Staff mobility must take place in a country participating in an Erasmus+ programme which is not in the same country as the university sending the person,  nor this person's main country of residence.

Stays within Europe last between two days and two months (excluding travelling time); the number of teaching hours is at least eight per stay or per week started.

Erasmus+ provides university staff with the opportunity of further education and training in countries with the Erasmus+-programme to increase internationalisation.
For further education and training purposes, staff at a German higher education institution with an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) may stay and receive funding at a host higher education institution with ECHE or another institution based in another country that takes part in the programme and that is active in the labour market or in the fields of general and vocational education.

Stays abroad last at least two days but no longer than two months. University staff from all departments can receive funding with STT (Staff Mobility for Training).

Eligible Individuals

• Lecturers without endowment
• Lecturers with service contracts
• Retired professors and teaching staff
• Academic staff members
• Company staff

The following daily rates up to the 14th day apply:    

• Group 1:
  180 Euro per day for Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden
• Group 2:
  160 Euro per day for Belgium, Germany (Incomer), France, Greece, Italy, Malta, The Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus
• Group 3:
  140 Euro per day for Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary

70% of the above-mentioned daily rates applies to days 15 to 60.
     
In addition to these daily rates, travel expenses will be reimbursed depending on the actual distance between the starting point of travel and destination, which is worked out based on a standard calculating tool used throughout Europe.

The following amounts are reimbursed per stay and depending on the distance:

• 0 km - 99 km --> 23 EUR
• 100 km - 499 km --> 180 EUR
• 500 km - 1999 km --> 275 EUR
• 2000 km - 2999 km --> 360 EUR
• 3000 km - 3999 km --> 530 EUR
• 4000 km - 7999 km --> 820 EUR
• 8000 km und mehr --> 1500 EUR
