Project Description
The new standard job profile positions in the field of environmental protection and sustainability have been applicable to newly organised apprenticeships since August 2021. These enforce the integration of the topic of "Sustainability in Insurance and Counselling Professions (NaVeBb)" in integrated degree programmes. The project "Sustainability in Insurance and Counselling Professions (NaVeBb)" is also dedicated to this task, running from 01.03.2024 to 28.02.2026 and funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space as well as by the European Union Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) of the European Union as part of the funding guideline "Sustainable Careers – future-oriented training (NIB)" .
The joint research project is made up of the expert groups from Vocational and Economic Education on the HdBA Schwerin campus and the Institute for Business Education at the University of Rostock working together with the Educational Association for the Insurance Industry (BVW e.V.) as well as ECOVIS Europe AG – Academy Division to implement work-related measures of vocational training for sustainable development (Berufsbildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung - BBNE) in vocational training for insurance and financial investment clerks (KVF) as well as for tax clerks (SFA). The aim is to plant sustainable thinking, actions and the associated values in the minds of the training staff (trainers and lecturers respectively within existing learning location cooperations) and therefore also in the minds of the trainees and in their skill development.
Based on material and findings from past BBNE pilot projects, the following is in place for both insurance and financial investment clerks and tax clerks:
- work-specific didactic material for the company and an inter-company training centre as learning locations,
- examination material and handouts on the inclusion of vocational education for sustainable development of oral examinations as well as
- qualification models for the training and examination staff - designed, tested and implemented on a national scale.
For this purpose, iterative design and testing cycles are planned in and with companies as well as all people involved in training, and in line with the design-thinking methodology, to ensure that products are developed and implemented in line with requirements. In addition, work-specific experts, multipliers in vocational education and training, and experts from the discourse on vocational education and training for sustainable development will be integrated into a strategy advisory board.
Products of the development process will then be implemented on a national scale, a transfer to other counselling professions is planned in parallel. For this purpose, products are prepared with stakeholders from a transfer advisory board for other professions (e.g. bank clerks, social security specialists, experts on labour market services) and transfer recipients are supported in the adaptation process.
