Career-management will become one of the toughest challenges for everybody in the future as the speed at which technology and work organisation is changing means that a constant adjustment of one's own role, tasks and professional abilities is required to keep up. 

Traditionally, career counselling developed various approaches, tools and models, however most of them were centred around access to information and not around improving an individual's "Career Management Skills" (CMS).

This CMS concept plays a central role in redesigning and improving European life counselling. It is necessary to have a common, proven, methodological, educational framework for the efficient formation of all interventions on all levels and for different target groups of beneficiaries (as, for example, highlighted in the European Decisions from 2004 and 2008 and the elGPN report 2015) and also for the evaluation of services with the gathering of comparable evidence, again based on learning results and career improvement indicators.

The aim of this project is to support career services to be able to react successfully to this change. This is to be done by developing a common methodological CMS framework and by including technology and web-learning resources to improve the effectiveness of interventions and access to services.

The aim of this project is also to improve and expand on the relationship between local authorities, public employment services and career services, schools, universities, companies, unions and associations, to be able to share a mutual framework in the field of career management skills which concentrates on the needs of the citizens as career counsellors and job seekers.

The improvement of career counselling systems on a local level will be a better support for students, job seekers, adults and groups in need of protection when it comes to making career decisions.

The project will include all significant interest groups in different regional contexts to enhance the quality and effectiveness of career counselling through "local social innovation experiments" in order to develop, test and implement the CMS framework, the ICT tools and career, learn and web-resources. This project will have a direct effect on career counselling systems, practitioners' and teachers' skills (those involved in working groups) and on the CMS for direct beneficiaries of these services.
