Adaptation of the Project BEST WSG
Ms. Prof. Dr. Türkan Ayan is a trained psychologist and has worked as a professor at the HdBA since 2007. In her 6-year project BEST WSG, funded by BMBF, she and her team – Dr. Eva Müller, Lucia Mihali and Maren Oberländer – designed and implemented five web-based training courses. The experience and findings gained are being adapted to the counselling context in the SGB II legal system of the National Employment Agency (BA) as part of an expanded concept within the project WebiKom.
Background
The high level of immigration was up against immense challenges with regard to integration and participation policy, society and the labour market. The demographic change in Germany can also be a reason to see immigration as an opportunity, although integration processes need time and resources. Against this backdrop, the National Employment Agency is also facing the challenge of viewing migrants as a growing target group. This requires a counselling concept adapted to the specific framework conditions of this target group, a concept which also assumes intercultural competencies, amongst other prerequisites.
Target Group
The placement officers from the SGB II legal system of the National Employment Agency are entrusted with advising and referring clients with multiple issues. Statistically, there is a relatively high number of migrants in this group of people seeking advice.
Setting Goals
The aim of the intended research is the development and evaluation of a methodological-didactic design for the web-based further training of BA experts from the SGB II legal system in the intercultural field, to support how they deal with the challenges faced in migration-specific counselling. Low-threshold access to academically founded further training for BA experts should be made possible. The long-term goal is the design and structuring of a web-based training measure which is flexible in terms of time and also cost-effective, and can be offered to a wider circle of BA employees in the SGB II legal system.
