Counselling-oriented management accounting

The three-to-six-month-long module Counselling-Oriented Accounting Management has been offered at the University of Applied Labour Studies on both the Mannheim and Schwerin campuses since 2018.

The aim of the module is to relate counselling skills to analytical knowledge and current methods of labour market analysis and accounting management. This uses academic approaches to solutions from disciplines found in economics, in business administration and advisory sciences. Critical (incidents) and points of intervention in the BA core processes as well as in the advising of managers provide consistent examples of application. Course content simulates both unusual and daily situations at work in accounting management and can therefore be implemented directly.

Registration of the participants only takes place through the regional offices.

The target group for the further education moduleCounselling-Oriented Accounting Management consists of BA employees who have an initial professional qualification or training and a minimum of two years' work experience in Accounting Management for the operational division of the legal system SGB II and/or SGB III (RegionalController SGB III and Controller SGB II for Internal Services, Head of Controlling/Finances for Internal Services and in Regional Offices, Counsellors and Senior Specialists with a focus on Controlling in regional offices, Advisors and Counsellors at the controlling headquarters).

At the end of the further education module, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. All participants are requested to submit the required documents for admission at the end of the first on-campus phase. The admissions procedure and its requirements for the further education module are laid out in the admissions regulations. Alongside a first degree qualifying for a profession or successfully completed job training, applicants must also be able to demonstrate at least two years of qualified professional experience as an employee in management accounting in the legal system of SGB II or SGB III.

The students' rights and obligations for studies in further education are laid out in the study and examination regulations. Students receive detailed information on the admission procedure in the first on-campus session. 

After admission has been successful, the module is completed with an examination. The HdBA provides a certificate of participation as well as 5 ECTS credits upon passing the examination. .

The further education module "Counselling-Oriented Accounting Management" ties in with the role model "Controller   as a counsellor on all management levels" and focuses on the subject areas of labour market analysis, innovative accounting management tools and approaches to counselling for accounting management. The module is an individual qualification outside of the introductory programme in the field of accounting management. It focuses on the professionalisation of methodological skills, and is based on theories of economics, business studies and advisory sciences, connected to each other systematically using practical examples.

The contents of the module are interdisciplinary, practically oriented and academically based, and are designed to enable the participants to advise managers professionally in their role as acountancy managers.
