Inclusion Officer
The inclusion agreement § 166 SGB IX improves the rights of people with disabilities in the National Employment Agency (BA), and ensures a self-determined life and social inclusion through equal participation in working life. Inclusion rejects division in our society and implies the diversity of all people in it. The preventative avoidance of exclusion and unequal treatment and is therefore at the centre of our considerations and actions. Our university also follows this mandate for action. This work is, for the main part, determined by the employer's inclusion officer (according to § 181 SGB IX) in conjunction with the chancellor as well as the disabled employee representative as part of an annual action plan. The inclusion officer is receiving support with its implementation from colleagues from both campuses throughout this current year (inclusion working group). Please find an insight into our work below.
Studying for people with disabilities
- The topic of inclusion and being able to take part in working life is taught in various modules and teaching formats throughout the degree programme. A concept has been developed especially for this purpose. GR inclusion at the central office supports various teaching content and activities, such as an introductory module to inclusion in the introductory week.
- Teaching staff also have access to a guide on "Accessible Teaching" which has been put together by the working group Diversity , part of the student council. In 2022 a one-pager was added.
- To complement teaching on inclusion, there are study-related events and conferences on the topic of inclusion and participation in working life; z.B. such as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and/or Diversity Day.
- In 2021/22, in cooperation with workshops for disabled persons, students of the HdBA carried out an inclusive garden project.
- In 2023 they organised an Inclusion Café and also an exhibition in the library. Workshop employees were involved in teaching research projects to create artwork for the exhibition.
Further education and training for teachers and staff
- "Raising AwarenessWorkshop": From May to November 2022. HdBA staff took part in the Raising AwarenessWorkshop "When being different is normal; bringing the UN-BRK to life" and discussed this topic with other colleagues. This workshop was developed by GR Inclusion and is taking place in all agencies nationwide.
- Accessible teaching training: Regular training on increasing accessibility in teaching have been taking place since 2022. The focal point of the training is on the creation of accessible Word- and PowerPoint documents
Accessible facilities at the Mannheim campus
Alongside disabled parking, disabled-friendly lifts, toilet facilities and accessible workplaces, 2011 saw the creation of a tactile guidance system for people with visual impairments.
Disabled-friendly living on the Schwerin campus
There are eight disabled-friendly rooms in student housing on the Schwerin campus. An accessible kitchen is currently being fitted in one house. There are also individual parking spaces right in front of the housing for people who are disabled
