No place for discrimination
The University of Applied Labour Studies (HdBA) is committed to promoting an equal, trusting collaboration among all members of the university, and emphasises a positive and supportive working and studying environment. Diversity and openness are reflected in our students and staff.
Discrimination has no place at our university. If you experience discrimination and see no way out of your personal situation - or witness discrimination happening to others - we have staff who are there to offer you confidential help and advice, and who will take appropriate action in individual cases.
What is discrimination?
Discrimination is when someone is disadvantaged based on a characteristic such as something to do with their gender, ethnic origin, age, a disability, sexual orientation or religion. The deciding factor is the result and not the motive behind it (intention, thoughtlessness, general administrative practice, etc.).
The following characteristics are worthy of protection under the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG):
- Ethnic origin and attributions,
- Gender (also includes trans* and inter* persons),
- Religion or ideology (also including no affiliation to a religion or an ideology),
- Disability,
- Age,
- Sexual orientation.
The following characteristics are also relevant to the higher education sector:
- Social background / social status,
- Family status.
