Cosmopolitan University
The HdBA stands for the formation and preservation of an open, democratic society, aimed at providing everybody with protection against discrimination. We are a cosmopolitan university, characterised by our international flair and our emphasis on the relevance of international exchange for the academic world as well as the need for open discourse across borders and disciplines.
As an academic institute, we call for the promotion of diversity, equality and cosmopolitanism. At the same time we strictly oppose antisemitism as well as all forms of discrimination including any anti-constitutional activity.
Antisemitism, racism, sexism, intolerance and discriminatory beliefs as well as resentment are not welcome here in Germany or in the world.

University
Two campuses, three degree programmes, endless opportunities
The University of Applied Labour Studies (HdBA), established in 2006, is a state-recognised university of applied sciences, accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities. Around 500 students at the campuses in both Mannheim and Schwerin complete dual Bachelor degree programmes to become experts in the fields of Education, Career and Employment Counselling as well as Labour Market Management.
Degree Courses
Studying at the HdBA
The National Employment Agency (BA) requires a range of courses which combine specific elements of economics, social sciences and law for the implementation of state labour market policy and for qualified employees to be able to perform the vast range of tasks.
Campus
One university, two campuses
The National Employment Agency (BA) provides degree programmes and further education for its junior staff and other employees. For this purpose, they maintain their own university - the HdBA - with campuses both in Mannheim and Schwerin.
Having two campuses makes the university attractive for students from all over Germany.
Research
Expertise in Counselling and the Labour Market –
Research at the HdBA
The HdBA is not only an institute for academic qualifcations and further education but also a research university. This plays a significant role in the recruitment of the teaching staff. The Senate checks every job posting as to exactly how the recruitment of a new professor could contribute to driving the development of the university's research profile forward. Research activity through teaching staff enjoys administrative support from the university as well as incentive programmes.
